Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

Applies to: NOMS on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play)

NOMS is designed to be a “Local-First” application. We believe your memories, photos, and spending habits should remain under your control. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Image Processing & Privacy

Our core feature involves creating stickers from your food photos. All sticker creation, including background removal, happens locally on your device using on-device AI (Apple’s Neural Engine on iOS, Google ML Kit on Android). These processed images are never uploaded to any server.

2. AI Nutrition Estimation

NOMS offers an optional AI-powered feature that estimates the nutritional content (calories, carbs, protein, fat) of your food based on a photo. This feature requires sending data to an external service and is only activated with your explicit consent.

What data is sent: When you choose to use AI nutrition estimation, a compressed copy of your food photo is sent to the AI service for analysis. No other personal data (such as your name, location, account information, or any other photos) is included in this request.

Third-party processor: The photo is processed by Google via its Gemini AI service. NOMS does not control how Google processes or retains data after transmission. You can review Google’s privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy and the Gemini API terms at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.

Purpose: The photo is used solely to generate an estimated nutritional breakdown for the food depicted. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose by NOMS.

Retention by NOMS: NOMS does not store, cache, or log your food photos on any server operated by NOMS. The photo is transmitted directly from your device to Google’s API and discarded from memory after the response is received.

Consent: This feature is entirely optional. The first time you use it, NOMS will present a clear disclosure and ask for your agreement before any data leaves your device. If you decline, no data is sent and the feature is simply not used. You can always enter nutrition information manually instead.

3. Peek Social Feature

NOMS includes an optional social feature called Peek that lets you share food entries with friends and see what they ate. Peek requires authentication and stores data on an external server.

Authentication: Peek uses Sign in with Apple (on iOS) or Google Sign-In (on Android) to create your account. We receive only the information the platform provides (a unique user identifier and, if you choose to share, your email and name). We do not receive your password.

What data is stored: When you use Peek, the following data is stored on our server:

What data is NOT stored: Your spending/price data, full nutrition details beyond calories, your local food diary entries that you choose not to share, and your login credentials.

Third-party processor: Peek data is stored and processed by Supabase Inc. (supabase.com), a cloud database service. Food photos shared via Peek are stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage. You can review their privacy practices at supabase.com/privacy and cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Data retention: Shared food entries on Peek are visible to your friends for up to 2 days (7 days for PRO subscribers), after which they are automatically removed from the server. Your profile and friend connections remain until you delete your Peek account.

Visibility: Your shared food entries are visible only to users you have accepted as friends. They are not visible to the public or to other NOMS users who are not your friends.

Consent: Peek is entirely optional. You must explicitly set up a Peek account and sign in before any data is shared. Each food entry requires you to toggle the Peek icon on before it is shared. You can delete your Peek account at any time from within the app.

4. Advertising

NOMS displays advertisements to free users. PRO subscribers do not see any advertisements.

Ad provider: Advertisements are served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). AdMob may collect device information such as advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android), device type, OS version, and general interaction data to serve relevant ads.

Rewarded ads: NOMS offers optional rewarded video ads that you can choose to watch in exchange for temporary benefits (such as a 24-hour skin trial). These ads are never shown without your explicit action.

No personal data shared for ads: NOMS does not share your food diary data, photos, spending information, or Peek social data with any advertising network.

Opting out: You can limit ad tracking through your device’s privacy settings. On iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads. PRO subscribers see no ads at all.

Third-party policies: You can review Google’s advertising privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Data Storage & Sync

Your local food logs, spending data, and categories are stored on your device. On iOS, backup and sync across your devices is handled through your private iCloud account. On Android, data is stored locally on the device. This data remains inaccessible to the developer or any third party.

6. Permissions

7. Analytics & Remote Configuration

NOMS uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as daily and monthly active users, session duration, and general feature usage. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve the experience.

NOMS also uses Firebase Remote Config to remotely manage app settings (such as enabling or disabling advertisements). Remote Config does not collect personal data beyond what Firebase Analytics already collects.

What is collected: Anonymous app usage data including session frequency, screen views, and general interaction patterns. This data is associated with a randomly generated device identifier and is not linked to your personal identity.

What is NOT collected: Firebase Analytics does not collect your name, email, photos, food logs, spending data, or any content you create in the app.

Third-party processor: Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under their Firebase terms. You can review Google’s privacy practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

No advertising use: Analytics data is used solely for product improvement. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties.

8. Subscription Management

NOMS PRO subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store (on iOS) and Google Play Store (on Android). Subscription status is verified through RevenueCat Inc., a third-party subscription management service. RevenueCat receives only your anonymous transaction data to verify your subscription status. You can review RevenueCat’s privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.

9. Account Deletion & Data Removal

You have the right to delete your data at any time.

Local data: You can delete all data from within the app via Settings → Delete All Data. Alternatively, uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device.

Peek account: You can delete your Peek account from within the app (Profile → Delete Peek Account). This permanently removes your Peek profile, all shared food entries, photos, reactions, and friend connections from our servers. This action cannot be undone.

Cloud data: On iOS, data synced to iCloud can be managed through your device’s iCloud settings. On Android, all data is stored locally and removed when the app is uninstalled.

Analytics data: Firebase Analytics data is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you. It is retained according to Google’s standard retention policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of NOMS after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
